The European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) 2026 is pleased to launch a global Girls' Maths Video Challenge dedicated to female high school students worldwide. The contest will run from 15 December 2025 to 28 February 2026.

"Tell us about a mathematical breakthrough, a milestone discovery, a major pioneering work or a groundbreaking theorem that we owe to a female mathematician. What were her main ideas in that work ? Which fields of mathematics did she impact ?"

Who Can Participate?

All high schools are warmly invited to take part. Each participating school is encouraged to form a team of four girls, select a subject within the main theme above, and create a short original video to present it. Each video videos should not be longer than 5 minutes and include English subtitles (which can be easily added using Google Vids for instance or other free software) even though all languages are allowed in the audio. Teams may ask teachers for scientific support (to understand the guidelines of a complicated proof or theorem) or linguistic help (for the subtitle quality).

How to Participate

Each team is invited to register by filling and submitting this form.

Teams will be able to upload their videos via a link sent (by February 8th) to the registered email addresses, so please make sure these are valid. Submission guidelines will be provided in the email.

Jury

The jury for the Girls' Math Video Challenge - EGMO 2026 will be composed of distinguished professors from leading mathematics institutions, including IHES, ENS, École polytechnique, and Tsinghua University. They will evaluate all submitted videos based on creativity, clarity of mathematical explanation, and overall production quality.

Announcement of Laureates

The final list of laureate teams will be announced during EGMO 2026 in Bordeaux, France.

Awards

All prizes and gifts will be sent to the winners by post.
